Alejandro Plaza was born in Caracas in 1989. Alejandro submerges the viewer within the vibration and speed of a hybrid art, in his work, post-neo Pop, is recomposed in a narration that passes with impunity from the graphics to the genre of portraits in painting , and inserts echoes of geometric abstraction between vertiginous fragments of multiple iconographies. Plaza appropriates the visual perceptual effects of Venezuelan kinetic art among a group of allusions that transits through the freedom of a generation formed by the paroxysm of cultural industries. At the age of 16, during his stay in Denmark as an exchange student, he took his first drawing lessons and made direct contact with art at the ARoS museum in Aarhus, Denmark.One of the obsessions that accompany him since then is the shadow and the light that he does not give up even when he does geometric interventions today, where he use dynamic fragments and color degradations together with shadows that give life to each of his figures: “As if they were not ideal but real bodies”, he says, at the same time, the geometries juxtaposed in transparencies, and the stripes of color began to be combined with portraits that can exalt the stereotypes of beauty.
In the midst of media saturation, Alejandro Plaza, belonging to a generation that was born after the end of social utopias, creates works based on surrealism, pop and kineticism as a personal way of communicate his vision from an imaginary world of happiness where time is more valuable.
The globalization of urban art has links with the ideas of choice, freedom and rebellion. Exploring the social and political problems recently discovered in his native Venezuela, his concepts and images carry the significant hint that causes the discovery of hidden conversations, elevating advertising to a cult iconography and inserting semiotics into contemporary art, expanding it in its own way.
